October 25 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm CEST
Join us to celebrate the release of the new book
Everyone is welcome.
The research group ‘The Cultural History of AIDS in Denmark’ invites you to a book launch at LGBT+ Medborgerhuset, Vestergade 18 E, 2nd floor, 1456 Copenhagen K.
The authors will present and motivate the book together with Lars Østergreen from AIDS-Fondet, Susanne Branner Jespersen from LGBT+ Danmark and Jens Peder Høeberg from HIV-Danmark.
This is followed by a reception where we offer a glass of wine and a light meal.
The Danish history of the AIDS crisis tells the story of AIDS in Denmark. It is the story of the gays who had to find themselves while they buried their friends and lovers and became ill themselves. It’s the story of the hemophiliacs, who in very large percentages were infected with AIDS. It’s the story of the sex workers and drug users whose harsh lives became, if possible, harsher. But it is also the story of activism, unity and hope. It’s the story of sex-positive and brazen awareness campaigns that outraged many, but also taught an entire generation to use condoms and talk about safe sex.
